It kills various microorganisms such as E. coli, salmonella, coliform and more. The ultraviolet water filter kills all sorts of microorganisms and does it extremely quickly. However, it does have its downsides like every water filtration system.
The ultraviolet water filtration will not eliminate sediments such as iron. This is a turn off for the people who are attempting to make their water taste better or smell better. You can use this filtration system in conjunction with another water filter designed to remove sediments. This will allow you to remove all sediments and have the most effective microorganism removing system all in one.
It is recommended that you have your water tested to see if you need an additional water filter to remove sediments before purchasing an ultraviolet water filter. The reason being is that you want to install the ultraviolet water filtration system after the sediment filter has been installed. It is much more convenient to have it all done at once as opposed to having to uninstall your ultraviolet water filter to install the sediment filter.
It has its positives and negatives, but there is no denying the ultraviolet water filter is just about the most effective microorganism removing system. With the incredibly high kill rate and the multiple options you have to choose from, it is no wonder it is becoming increasingly popular. |
