Cleaning Techniques For Your New Carpets

Most people really enjoy the fragrance of freshly installed carpeting. But sadly enough, that smell doesn't linger for long. So how can you possibly keep your carpets looking and smelling as good as new? Most people will tell you that the answer is easy: clean them often. You should not let those words trick you as carpet cleaning is more involved than it sounds, especially if you aren't aware of the basics. It's pretty important to know how to clean and care for your new carpets as this will save your investment you've made into your home.

Vacuuming is one thing that is critical in keeping all types of flooring clean, but this process only takes care of the dirt on the top. Luckily there are many other types of cleaning methods you can use to help with the rest of the grime.

One popular style is known as wet cleaning, and it can help tremendously by eliminating those stubborn or oily stains. However, the majority of the wet cleaning methods can only be performed by cleaning services or those trained to do it. All is not lost though as you can rent the smaller and less intrusive machines for cleaning your new carpets instead of hiring others to do it.

It's very important to remember when you're caring for your newly installed flooring that there is not one absolute best cleaning method. Each style has some benefits and can give wonderful results when done properly. But knowing the types of methods available isn't the only solution; you have to know how each one works before you decide on which one to use for the care of your new carpets.

Foam cleaning is helpful because this it was designed to get down deep into the fibers of the carpet. By utilizing a cleaning agent in a foam structure you receive the benefit of a very pleasant scent, striking to the senses. Dry cleaning, however, is a completely different process. Instead of a foam agent, it uses a spongy compound which is extremely dry. This dry chemical is spread along the new carpets and forced into the fibers by a very powerful machine. Within thirty minutes your new carpets can be vacuumed, resulting in the riddance of that nasty dirt and grime. The powerful clean scent will not be there though.

Another type of carpet cleaning that is well used is shampooing. A cleaning soap is spread on the floor by a machine that has a brush that rotates. By scrubbing this solution into the new carpets the dirt is forced out and up into the machine. This will be evident when you dump the water out and see all of the dirt.

Finally you can try the hot water extraction process. This method is commonly called steam cleaning, but that doesn't quite explain what is happening. It doesn't actually use steam, but instead uses hot water to remove the dirt. The water as well as a tough cleaning agent is sprayed onto the floor and quickly removed from the new carpets by a wet vacuum.

Any type of flooring can be a huge investment in your house so you need to take special care in order to insure it's longevity. With a little bit of work it can last your family for a long time.
